Volunteering

Your club needs you!

We are looking for volunteers to help with the smooth running of SASC, whether it is supporting at competitions and galas or lending a hand behind the scenes. Volunteering with us doesn’t have to mean a huge time commitment. Many of these roles can fit around your schedule, and you’re free to choose how and when you help.

We’d especially love your help with the following roles:

Club Roles

Team Manager: Support swimmers at galas, keeping them safe, happy and focused before, in-between and after races. Training required.
Committee Member: Attend monthly meetings to support the smooth running of SASC.
Water Polo Committee Member: Water polo voice and representation on the SASC Committee
Custodian: A new committee role to audit our property
Fundraiser: Committee member to coordinate club fundraising events, identify and source external funding and grants for the club, prepare funding bids.
Social Secretary: Committee member to coordinate regular social events for swimmers and their families.
Welfare Officer: Provide the first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have child safeguarding or welfare concerns.
Raffle Prize coordinator: Contact local businesses and larger companies for raffle prize donations.
Club desk: Man a monthly club desk to respond to queries and questions from swimmers, parents and potential new recruits (ideally Tuesday 6.30-8 to catch all training groups)
Door person: Sell tickets for the viewing gallery (and raffle tickets) at home galas
Treasurer: Our longstanding treasurer is looking to stand down this year and we’re on the lookout for someone to take on the role by October at the latest. Although we can only have one nominated Treasurer, the workload can be split between more than one person if you can only give a limited amount of time. Full training will be given.
More information about some of these roles can be found here

Technical Official Roles

Timekeeper: Support galas by taking and recording swimmers’ times during races. No experience necessary, training required.
Judge 1: Support galas as a timekeeper or inspector of turns. No experience necessary, training required.

At galas (beyond club level), expenses and lunch are usually provided for technical officials.

For more information on any of the above roles or to volunteer your time please speak to Tom, one of the Committee or email stretfordasc@gmail.com
